Slipping Clutch: Suggestions

Let me start by saying I searched. Recently I have noticed my clutch slipping in the higher rpm (powerban). It started off as occasional slipping, but now the weather is warmer (113+) it is becoming more frequient. So I have a few questions.

Tomorrow I'm going to do an oil change hoping this will help. I also read about adjusting the clutch cable, but this only being a temp fix. If my clutch is, indeed worn out, where is a good place to purchase one?

Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks

I was just reading your other post, Cycle Gear should have a set of clutch plates. If not, they'll order a set for you.

Not real sure of the price, but I don't think they are real expensive. They are fairly simple to put in. If you have your manual, just follow it to the letter. It should take no more than 2 hours to install them, but that depends on how mechanically inclined you are.

get the book do waht it say's, you'll need an impact gun to get the lock nut out of the center. dont buy aftermarket internal engine parts! go to your honda dealer and buy HONDA PARTS for your HONDA bike!!! I put an after market clutch in my bike spent 270 to have a local shop do it for me. it lasted 3 months if that. I put a 16k mile used factory clutch in my bike and 25k miles later its still in there. I think you need 8 friction and 8 steel plates 4 springs and a new center lock nut the parts from honda should cost less then 150.

Ok thanks. So I changed the oil today. Bike runs super smooths but still occasionally slips. I hope once it cools down some, it won't slip as much

On the BEACH in Cali[sm=owned.gif] It was 110 on Thursday, 113 yesterday, and 108 today. They say it's going to start cooling off. Suppost to be in the mid 80's all next week.

If your using normal car motoroil it can also be the problem because they have additives that make the oil more lubricated and with our wet clutches it can tend to make the gears slip.
