Default Shorten Clutch Cable

Ive been having so much problems with my clutch since i put it in the new one. Problem is that the cable near the clutch basket is already adjusted as far as it can go and its engaging properly. Problem is there is still so much slack up top at the clutch lever. It there is still about an inch (more or less) of slack in the lever. Every bike guy i talk to said that the lever is too long. thing i dont get is it is a Brand new Clutch Cable

so is there anything that i can do to shorten the clutch cable maybe an inch or less to get rid of all that slack in it??

I assume you have it adjusted at the lever to? There should not that much slack left over, so I'm guessing that maybe it's the wrong one. Even if it is the right one, there are a lot of shops (& cable specialists) out there that can make up a cable to order (& use the same cable housing) or make it to the Honda spec. So if its an inch to long, they can make one up, say 3/4 inch shorter (or more) And if the U.S. is anything like S'tralia, at 1/4 the price of the original.

A lot of bike shops have their own cable kits as well as Go cart & Car garages that deal with older (classic) cars. Ring around.
Just out interest, is it routed the right way? When I've had bikes that I've switched or adjusted the bars on (lowered) I'd end up with excess cable. As long as you're careful & route it in such away that it won't foul up when you turn the bars, you can shorten the slack.
I used to use cable ties to stop the cable housing from popping out somewhere or bending the housing.
I once had a CX Honda that high riser bars (which I hated) So went back to Touring bars, a difference in height of nearly a foot.

yea i routed it the same way as the old cable, btween the motor and the frame... i havent done many things in height difference besides switching up the rear shock for a taller one. Its just annoying having that much slack in the cable cuz it messes with my shifting and if i ever need to pop start the bike, i cant get the clutch to disengage enough

im not sure what the clutch side mount of your cable looks like but ive had this prob on various bikes atvs ect and what i usually do is find something i can use as a spacer between the cable housing and the cable mount/retainer by the clutch. sometimes it works and sometimes i end up getting a diff cable. somethin to try.

you can use washers. you just have to cut a slit in them to slide the cable through.
