Default Seat Height on 1998 CBR 600 F3

I'm in the market for my first bike and was looking at a 1998 CBR 600 F3. However, I am 5'6" and when I straddle the bike I can't quite get both feet on the ground comfortably. I had heard that there was a way to get the seat and suspension lowered but I'm not sure if this would be enough to accomodate my midget stature. Pros and Cons? Any info would be great, thanks!

dont fret about the seat height

you are 3 inches taller than me and I comfortably ride a 1997 cbr 600. there are absolutely no adjustments on my bike-

i tend to lean a slight bit to my left foot, which fits comfortably on the ground, while the other is just slightly touching- but its not a hinderance.

you just have to be cognisant(sp) of the uneven surfaces and adjust to it- ie: shifting your buttocks to the right or left isde to have more footing on the ground, whichever the case calls for, or pushing your bike instead of trying to back it up while seated.

just go for it!!! thats my advice. happy riding

Being able to comfortably touch the ground can be a big deal for the confidence of a new rider. You can probably make up some of the distance if you take the seat somewhere and have them shave some of the foam down. You can also mechanically lower the bike by changing the linkages that connect the shock to the frame. I'm new to the F3 but I would imagine that longer linkages (AKA dog bones or lowering links) are available. It's pretty easy to do if you have the tools and a way to lift the rear of the bike (other than by the swingarm). Lowering the rear without also changing the front can slow down steering a little. Lowering can also cause clearance issues. Unless you get crazy, both of these should be minimal, though. Good luck.

I prefer not having both feet on the ground (even though I can).
Whenever I stop, I put my left foot down and keep the right on the rear brake.
Gain confidence by practicing on a parking lot.
Practice riding really slow, stopping, making U-turns, figure 8s, etc etc etc.

Dani Pedrosa (MotoGP) is 158cm tall... He started somewhere too.
