Replacement Chain and Sprockets?

Replacement Chain and Sprockets?
Hey everyone I need a new chain and figured I would replace the sprockets while I was at it. Aside from my local Honda dealer who wants $167 for just the chain, where else can I get a good deal? I have checked ebay and I have no interest in a used chain or a conversion kit. I know it needs a 108 link chain - can I just buy a 110 and take out two links? How hard is it to do the chain anyway? I know I will have to buy a special tool to break the chain but is there anything else I need? Thanks!

Buy a whole kit. Always replace the chain and sprockets at the same time. One worn piece will quickly wear out the new piece. There are several options on that page, just buy a kit and do it yourself. You dont need a "special tool" to do this. Grind or torch off the old chain as it is shot anyway. Then to reset the new one, use a couple of hammers and a punch to flare out he new pins on the master link. You could buy a tool, but I already have other means, so I'm pretty much too cheap to buy the right tool. I havent had a problem this way so if done right, neither should you. Good luck man. And Kneedraggers is a great place to do business. I order all my stuff from them.

RE: Replacement Chain and Sprockets?
Just a quick update - I decided to purchase the chain cutter and do the chain and sprockets myself. It was actually easier than I thought it was going to be! Took me several hours but if I have to do it again I can do it in half the time. Only problem I ran into was the rear sprocket I bought off eBay didnt fit but my current one was in good shape so I can work that out later. I would highly encourage those of you who are going back and forth on doing this or having it done to do it yourself. You learn much about the working of your bike which is always a good thing. Bike is much smoother and seems more responsive now.
