Sounds like you bent the pedals shaft if you removed the clip and washer and it will not pull off the mount.
It could have some rust built up on the shafts ends also, the bike is over 10 years old.
Try spraying some WD40 onto the pedal shaft, let it sit over night and see if that helps.
Try using a small gear puller one that pushes on the shaft while pulling on the brake pedal.
You can always beat the pedal back into shape since it's steel.
I would NOT use heat when trying to remove the pedal.
The rear set is aluminum and and if you get the pedal shaft to hot it will start to melt the aluminum and distort the peice, push the shaft throught the rear set or just ruin the rear set.
