Regulator/rectifier overcharging issues
hi everyone,
Sorry to beat the proverbial dead horse, but I too am having reg/rect issues as of late.Right now myR/R seems to be just an "R", since itdoesnt seem to be regulating the alternator voltage. its around 15v at idle, and up near 20v when i rev it. Also i can visibly see the headlight getting brighter inunison with the revs. My connector is in pretty bad shape, and I already ordered the honda replacement connector, as well as anotherR/R,I just havent had time to replace the old one. But my question is it will it do any harm to ride it as is,only temporarily? Oram i damaging stuffI dont realize?the battery is a fairly new yuosa, and its at 12.8v when the bikes off, so it seems to be holding up. and the headlight hasn't popped, no fuses have blown, etc. Thanx for your input everyone.

RE: Regulator/rectifier overcharging issues
Yes you are damaging components. by putting in too much juice into the battery, it can be damaged from over charging. Connectors are also subject to heat from the excess resistance and will begin to show signs of over heating (@ the R/R and between the bike harness & stator harness are common places). Some times the meter bulbs will blow also. I'm surprised you haven't been blown fuses though.

RE: Regulator/rectifier overcharging issues
Because of a bad R/R I now have:
Battery 1
New Elecrto Sport R/R
Battery 2
Another Electro Sport R/R
All new bulbs (headlight went out at night!)
New stator
Battery 3
Battery 4
Current battery is already shot (2 weeks old) and won't last a day at work. Have to roll start to get home.
I'm getting a GSXR R/R and another battery soon.
Hoping the RSXR part will fix my problems.
If it isn't fixed after that, I'll have an F3 for sale, cheap!
