Default rebuild or new bike

I posted a thread earlier in the off-topic about my hit and run where my '95 F3 had the front end totalled. I was just curious, once i get the money from my insurance, could i buy back the bike with a salvage title and rebuild the front end, then use it as a stunt bike? check out the pics in my accident post. i would need everything new from the middle of tank forward. dont really need to replace fairings though, the bike looks good naked. ; )[sm=feedback.gif]

Ask them about a "buyback".

correct me if im wrong but doesnt the insurance company give you two estimates.
1.what they think the bike is worth
2. you keep the bike and they give you money to repair damages
I know this was the case when my sis totaled her car but with bikes it might be different?

yes they do that. either they pay for the base value of the bike as of the day before you crashed. Some companies also cover mods like slip-ons, or any aftermarket items. the cost of repairing would be enought to buy me a new bike. and would be too time consuming. I'd do it, but once i'm back to work will be working full time. as of now i can only hope i get enough to get a new bike.
