RE: rear plasticks seperating
That is the down fall to the three piece tail end. I hate it when I look back there and see that they are "blown" apart and I think... how long have I been riding like that? I know there are some after market tail pieces that can be purchased which are one piece. Down side to after market is theydon't always fit as well as OEM. Check out the rubber garments in your sub frame where the tail pieces push into. I have replaced them a couple and has seemed to reduce the occurrences of the tail pieces from separating.

You have any problems getting the taillight off now?

RE: rear plasticks seperating
How hard is it to get the one-piece on and off? My tabs are busted off, but I don't want to just duct tape everything together since I need access to the toolkit.

RE: rear plasticks seperating
When I had a crack in my front fairing what I did was bought a fiber glass patch kit from my boating store and patched the crack with that. That repair seems to be the strongest thing. I wonder if it would work with making your tail one piece. For now I just use clear packing tape on mine. That way it can only be seen if your looking right at it.
