Re-new fuel pump or not?
Hi
Well it appears the points have gone on my fuel pump, I bypassed it, removed the pump and will check it out when I can, hopefully just the points need replacing (approximately £25) My question is do I need a fuel pump, runs fine without it. Why did Honda go to a fuel pump on the F3? Any input would be greatfully appreciated. Ride safe, Ant. |

I'm not a wizard when it comes to repairs on bikes, but common sense to me says keep it simple sily... return the new pump, get the correct one for the bike so as to eliminate the questions and have the correct part for the bike. But to answer your electrical system question... a new connector for the new pump with a pigtail lead out of the tank and splice the old connector from the tank side to mate with the existing harness connector should make it run as long as it's wired to the correct pin outs on the new in tank connector. I agree with previous post... verify voltage & amp draw on the new pump motor. Also probably should cross reference the flow rates of the 2 pumps. Had an issue on a car build with a similar situation.... too much fuel to the pressure regulator caused damage to the regulator and stopped the car. Good luck 👍
