I got mine as a first street bike, no problems. (though I have been riding trails and such on a suzuki 400 since I was 10.) Dont know about the carbs though.

The '96 F3 was my first bike and was the first sport bike I had ever ridden. Good power, good handling, and extremely forgivable. I actually just purchased another one just a few weeks ago because I was in desparate need of a bike and you can pick these up pretty cheap (it only had 3200 miles on it with a clean title and vortex everything how can you pass that up.)

Getting to the cards is kinda a pain in the tail but after your there, it isn't too bad syncing them. But it requires a special tool to do it though.
