sorry I haven't been on in awhile ive been working on the bike!! turns out that the front wheel bearings were completely shot, well one of them was any way. and I mean like falling apart missing half of the ***** and the cage shot. I also had a new tire put on and I ended up getting the pilot power 3 put on it. while I had the tire off I cleaned the chain and took a peak at the sprockets to see if they were stock size or not, and something seems to stick in my head that I once found them in the manual but when I went to look again I could not find them for the life of me. but anyway the front is a 14 tooth and the rear is a 43 I believe so I don't know if any of you guys know it off the top of your head or atleast where to find it.

Thanks, Ian

The stock sprockets is 15 front / 43 rear and the chain has 108 links. If you do have a 14 front and 43 rear the rear axle should be back farther.

well I know for sure the front sprocket is a 14 so maybe whoever put the smaller sprocket on decided to shorten the chain and that is why the tire is so far forward? would this sprocket change have anything to do with my speedo being about 10 miles per hour off? im sue it messes with it a little but could it be as high as 10? thanks

it absolutely could. it really depends on if they added teeth on the rear, as to how bad it is or is not. i would do a chain and sprocket swap. personally, i prefer the stock gearing. mine originally had something like a 16/43 combo..it lowered the highway rpm's, but you had to slip the crap out of it to get it in first from a stop..

and the chain slack 5/8"-1"..simply place a rule on the bottom of the swing arm where the chain has the most slack and raise the chain. as long as it only raises at a maximum of a half inch, then you are within specs..but if it doesn't reach 5/16 of slack, it is too tight and needs to be loosened some

well tomorrow ill have to double check the rear one but I did find in the manual the chain tension so when I put the new tire on I made sure it is properly adjusted and as far as wear they are all in pretty good condition but I figure next year as long as the money is there I will probably put a full set on it just to know how many miles I have on the chain and sprockets. another thing I noticed on the bike the trip meter does not work? even the little button to reset it is missing? so I don't know if maybe it was broken or something and eventually I do plan on doing the f4i gauge swap but it would just be nice to have in the mean time if anybody has an idea of how to get it hooked back up. Thanks Ian
