Default Polish vs Painting Frame

So I have some surface rust on parts of my frame and I am going to paint my plastic this month so I figured I might as well do something with the frame considering I will have the plastic off. I have never been a fan of chrome so when i heard my friend tell me I should polish my frame to get it to look almost chrome I was immediately skeptical. But once I started to look at the amount of frame that would be visible I thought maybe it wouldnt be so bad. But then again I could always paint it but I thought that the paint might fail and then I would have to do it all over again. So I want some input on what looks good on a F3, what the pros and cons are and If I could get picts that would be SWEET! Any other comments would be nice.

you can't polish the f3 frame, it's steel.

I would say get it powder coated. Or you can get heat resistance paint like they use on engines.

I was told you can polish it but its just hard to get the topcoat off, if I was to powercoat do I have to pull the engine out and ****?

Just spray it...after plastic is on, you can't see much. It would be interesting to see a chrome plated F3 frame...

Polishing is for aluminium. Polishing is sanding the metal down untill it is completly smooth. You can do this to aluminium and stainless steel. If you do it to your frame you will have one big rusted boat anchor. Whoever is telling you this must think it is an aluminium frame. It's not! Powdercoating is the best way to go but you would have to strip it all the way down. Powder goes on in a powder form and then placed in an oven. If you are looking for a quick easy way, you could mask everything off and spray it. But I repeat, DO NOT TRY TO POLISH IT!

Polishing a metal frame is going to make rust very happy. I know painted metal rusts, but exposed metal is just asking for it.

Use high-temp engine paint, like the Erion bikes used to do.A guy I race against has an old Erion F3 and the frame is black.Nice.
