Default Plug popped out of cylinder

Last night I had the plug come out of the cylinder while riding, I had to limp it for about a mile on 3 cylinders...My question has anyone seen this happen before?

I looked at the threads of the plug they look fine, no flat spots just maybe rattled itself out..

I've had the bike for 5 years and the plugs came on the bike, I was meaning to change them soon.

It just seems so random?

How are the threads in the head? The plug threads are usually fine, the aluminum threads in the head are what get damaged.

I'd bet it pulled the threads out of the head.
The good news is that it can be repaired with a time-sert or helicoil. I'd go with a time-sert for spark plugs.

Threads are stripped in the head, mechanic is quoting me 800-1000 to repair. I'm picking it up and storing it for now and proably do a project to repair it. can i do this with the head on or take it off?

I'd watch using that shop in the future. $800-$1000 to do a heli-coil repair is an outrage.
If he doesn't know about heli-coils and was planning on doing anything else to effect the repair,
he's incompetent. Either way, not a good sign.

it was a heli coil repair, he estimated a whole 8 hrs for the job provided he can tap and install from the top of the head otherwise it would be more to take the head out..

but ya ii thought it was pretty high.

State 8 in Akron, OH quotes $450 for a heli coil repair.
Just something to compare to
