Paint help?

So I low sided my F3 on Monday, only several weeks after I finished painting it.

My question is should I try to salvage my base coat of paint?

The bike has frame sliders so most of the plastics were ok. There were a few cracks and splits here and there but I used plasti-welding, superglue, and ABS epoxy to fix them.

Now here's my problem. Most of the paint is still in good condition. I can sand down and bondo the rough spots while sanding off the clear coat on all the paint. This would leave me with essentially using the base black coat of paint as a primer. I could go over it with 500grit wet sanding, apply several more coats of black base, go over it again with 500grit wet sanding, and then apply the clear coat.

I previously used duplicolor black and clear, but duplicolor's clear sucks balls, so I want to use a rattlecan polyurethane two part clear, which from what I've seen is superior.

Will this work or am I just crazy?
Just for reference:
Broken Bike-->Mend Plastics-->Sand out rough spots w/320grit-->Wet sand with 500grit-->Apply duplicolor black-->Wet sand again with 500grit-->Apply two part rattlecan polyurethane clear coat

I've been on duplicolors forum reading up on their paints. The only time their representative voiced concerns when coating their product with another was paint types. Ie going over one of their lacquers with an enamel. Quite specifically when asked about using another clear their rep said it was ok and recoommended the person go to a sherwin-Williams auto paint shop for advice.

When it was about clears usually the person asking was a biker worried about gas eating the clear.

I think duplicolor's clear is junk, 'nuff said.

Rattlecan of paint shop system clear? And why do you think its junk? I've bought the primer and base but not clear because of the gas concern

It's junk because it doesn't do anything a clear coat is supposed to do... namely protect the paint.
