oil in coolant?

Default oil in coolant?

what would cause oil to be in my coolant? not alot....just a hair. enough to notice.....took the cap off the rad and saw a white clabbered substance on it and noticed it was oil....any ideas?

check head gasket. could also just be rust.

well i dont knwo about rust cause its just barelly on the seal ring on the rad cap...not alot to really notice just surprised me..and luckly there is no coolant in the oil and the bike dont smoke...oh yeah, it is a creamy white, thats why im assuming its oil

head gasket if it looks like milk in the oil (don't run it )

rust tends to float to the top and look almost like oil. if your coolant is milky then its likely oil. If its just on the top my guess is rust. Head gaskets are pretty easy to replace. its just the top of your motor. there is a gasket that goes around to stop the coolant and oil from mixing.

If your mechanically inclined it's no big deal. Pretty much can do it w/ engine in frame. Just get yourself a manual and take your time. Take pictures, this will help a ton when you are putting it all back together (specially w/ wiring-tubes etc). think a head gasket (after market) should run you about $60-$80.

Oh ya, i find it easier to leave the intake boots on the carbs when u take the carb out. You will need a loooooong Phillips screw driver by the way.
