30+ on the ticker is getting up there in age...

I would guess the bike would be worth 1500 to 2000 dollars on a good day, how much is your raptor worth?

Maybe you can get the guy to cough up a few bucks?

Post some pics so we can see the bike!

Maybe a bulb like in a car? IDK, seems like a nice trade though, I got mine with 27K on it for a busted *** integra with a bad motor, so your deal seems alittle better, and yes he knew about the car and still did it! Worked out for me.

Those bulbs burning out is pretty common. I believe they are a #70 bulb (much like a #157 but smaller). You just turn them out from the back side and pull them out of the little socket they are in...carefully. Not to hard all in all

Is it just the speedometer guage light that's out, or all the guage lights ? If just the speedometer one, then it's just a bulb. If they're all out, then more likely a fuse. There are 2 types of bulbs in the guage cluster. Most are 12v/1.7w bulbs. The turn signal bulbs are 12v/3w. They're what I call "Rice Lights" because they look like a grain of rice. Not too difficult to replace.

Here's how to replace them..

Get your bike looking like this.

Look under here...I've taken one of them out. The Black caps are the turn signal ones and they're the 3w bulbs. I didn't realize the caps were different colors until I took the photo with a flash. In the garage with poor lighting, they all looked black. It taks a 1/4 turn CCW to get them out, and can be removed without a screwdriver.

Here's what they look like when you get them out. Once out, just pull the bulb straight out of the socket with your fingers.

Notice that the glass around the bulb is darkend.

Like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words.

Now the challenge... find a reasonable source. As it happens, I'm replacing one one my wifes F3. Her Tachometer one went. I'm going to check Pep-Boys and other automotive places. Naturally they can be purchased from a Stealer, but they're pretty proud of them.

Hope this helps.

I found these at Pep-Boys. They're not the exact match, but close enough. These are rated at 13.5v/2.3w. The original bulbs draw .14A each, these will draw .17A or .03A more. Not significant enough to matter.

And yes, it' really 40,041 miles.

Well, they come 2 in a pack for 2.99. There are 4 that illuminate the guage cluster.
