FINALLY..got the carbs out after several hours of work. I'm done that once before so it wasn't too bad. However, now I have to separate the carbs to get to those o-rings. I have the manual and I've read the part several times about separating..but it seems rather intimidating!

I'm having trouble separating the carbs to change the o-rings at the fuel pipe. At first I thought if I take out the two long bolts that go through the carbs, then carb 4 would come off the end. I haven't taken the bolts all the way out yet, but I have visions of springs flying everywhere. So my questions are..

Do I need to take those two bolts out all the way?
Do I have to separate carbs 1 & 2 from carbs 3 & 4 first?
What else do I have loosen to take off to get carbs 4 away from 3 and 1 away from 2?

Thanks in advance...

You have to take the carb rails out to split the carbs. No worries, there aren't any springs... there.

The springs that'll go flying are at the carb adjustment screws between carbs 1 & 2, 2 & 3 and 3 & 4. If you are gentle while pulling the carbs apart, they won't fly out. Locate them before you separate the carbs and note how they're installed.

You don't have to take the rail completely out of the carburetors. Taking the nut off the end is fine. Separating the carbs can be tough because the "O" rings are stiff and not lubricated. The aluminum spacers on the rail between carbs are precision fit and if the carb doesn't come straight off the rail, they will bind. I used a flat blade screwdriver to gently pry on one side of the carbs and then the other. Try working all of the "T" fittings between the carbs back and forth while you pull on the carbs. A little patience and they will come apart.

Thanks...so if I understand correctly I don't have to take off anything else besides the nuts for the rails. I can get the top of the carbs to move some, but the bottom won't budge. Seems like something is holding it, but maybe it is just stubborn.
