Default My new CBR and its problems.

Hello guys,

After riding a hyosung gt250r for 4 years in Turkey, I've moved to FL and bought a 95 CBR F3, its so nice and i loved it so much

But ofc its an old bike and have some problems. I hope someone can help my problems.

Ok first problem is there is a rattling sound around 6k rpm, when i shift the gear it goes away, as i read its because of cam chain tensioner, i've already ordered ape manual cct, it should be here in 2 days, so i will change it at weekend. I hope i identified the problem right

Second one is, specially in the mornings the bike is starting hard,if i tried go a little more on rpm, its stopping. i need to increase the rpm really slowly, if i left the gas,the egine is stopping. i was assuming its because of dirty carb.
And yesterday night when i was driving, something happened, it was like my fuel was finishing, i stopped on the right line and it continued like 1 min. When i tried to give gas (actually im not so sure that term is right, how do you say it in english? giving gas? while accelerating...) my lambs were going low and then at the end the engine stopped. i turned on the engine again, it continued like 10 secs and then everything turned to normal. And another problem is when im going on low rpm(maybe around 2k-3k) bike doesnt go so smooth, like its almost gonna stop. i think all of these related each other. As i read again i'm thinking these things happening because of a dirty carb and bad fuel pump(or just fuel pump pointer switch).

Third one is my tach is not working, there is power, but its always stable, sometimes around 1.5k, sometimes around 10k. i will check the fuses for that, but dont i dont think its beacuse of fuses...

Thats all my problems for now. I hope I can fix those and then enjoy my new cbr =)

And here this is my new baby

Sounds to me like Either dirty carbs, Valves out of adjustment, Fuel pump issues. Or some combination of these. Usually when the cct begins to go out it will only rattle the chain at low rpms and the sound will go away when the rpms are increased. but hopefully the sound you are hearing is the cct because the ape will cure it.
Heres a carb cleaning link

I know you oredered a manual CCT but I always replace with a new stocker and the noise stops.

My shop can clean your carbs and rejet if you are looking to have it done

Also do all the maintenace

Oil
Filter
plugs
air filter
fuel filter
valve clearance
carb clean
carb sync
hard wire regulator plug
valve clearance check/ adj

Typical F3 tune-up

So, where in FL did you move to ? The bike looks great, EU paint scheme. You don't see them on this side of the pond very often. Your issues sound like fuel/carburetor issues.

Yes, I know Sarasota, my mother was born there. We have a friend that lives there. Only about 2.5 hrs away from the Fort Lauderdale area. Welcome to the forum.

Sarasota is a good place, its quite and nice =) I know Fort Lauderdale, one of my friend is living at there.

Ok now, yesterday i cleaned my gauges and checked it, there were 3 bulbs was broken, im gonna change them. My quesstion is, i want to change background color, is it ok if i use regular led and 1k resistor instead of these bulbs? And as i checked i need to change my tachometer, i liked the f4i gauges but its expensive for me now, im going to wait 2-3 months for that.

I couldnt change my cct yesterday, thanks to our new receptionist, she took the key of mail box from office while going home on friday, now i have to wait untill monday to get it.

Today im going to start removing carb, then this week im going to clean it. Probably there are some damaged parts, what do you suggest for a rebuild kit? I've found these on ebay (DYNOJET Carburetor Carb Jet Kit HONDA CBR600F3 95-96 Stage 1 | eBay)
but i have no idea if they are good or not or expensive, so i need to know which one you use generally.

As you know i've just bought this bike, what else should i check? Chain and sprockets are in good condition, he changed the oil ve oil filter 300 miles ago, brake pads are good.

Thank you

Thank you spicymeowmix, i will keep that in my mind

Now i have a quesetion as a noob I was cleaning my carbs but it was too late when i realized each carb has different jets. Now as i checked there are 2 numbers 136 & 138 on main jets, i dont have any idea which jet was in which carb. What about other jets? Is there any other things like that?

The jet kit should tell you which ones go where.

Also do some homework and see what others are using for settings with similar bolt on mods.

If this is your first rejet and you have never tunned carbs you are in for an education.

Best advice I have for you is run it rich then lean it out
