Do you mean the battery goes flat & the engine dies?. If so, could be the battery itself, not holding the charge or your voltage regulator may be stuffed, & your bikes only using the battery power to run. Both can be checked quickly at a good bike shop.

I’m having a similar issue. My bike will die from the battery going dead if I putt around too long below 5k rpm. I checked my battery first since it was the easiest to test. I charged it completely and measured the voltage at 13.45 V. In a couple hours, the charge had dropped to 12.3 V while sitting on the floor of my room. I also tested the battery at a shop and they confirmed the battery was bad. If you test your battery at a shop, you'll need toknow the CCA which is 120. So that I don't have to push start, I just ride around at 5k rpm or more when driving around town. This is so because the charging system of the bike kicks in and dumps juice into the battery. I haven’t had any problems except the bike eats up a little more petrol then usual.
I had an embarrassing moment last weekend. I took a girl out and I was putting around below 5k rpm for too long (for about 10 minutes). My battery died on me and it was too dead to push start. We were stuck at the Lincoln Memorial and I live about seven miles up hill from there... wouldn't be a fun push. Long story short, she got blisters on her feet from walking and we had to get her car to jump my bike. What can we all learn from this... always wear a clean pair of skivvies and always make sure your battery is in good shape when taking a girl out.

I had the same problem and a regulator rectifier for $35 cured the problem. Quick and easy and beats walking out of DC at night. LOL.. Bet she was pissed....
