Making the bike look newer
first off... tell me guys if this is a good deal.. .
1995 f3 600 with 25,000 miles... scratches and scuffs from wear and tear... and probably fell once...with a small crack in the fairng... and tires with 50% threads... for >2000? -- if so... i personaly think its an UGLY... color scheme... its white with purple and yellow decals. http://i7.ebayimg.com/02/i/000/84/b5/392b_1.JPG and i wanna know what i can do to make it look newer... or if its worth the effort... and have a differnt color scheme... *the darker ones* |
RE: Making the bike look newer
thats a really good deal and has a pipe too, that is a 96 model the 95 model looked like mine \/\/\/\/\/\/\/ in the picture below, you can pick up all new fairings like these http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/NEW-H...79192819QQrdZ1
i think these /\/\/\/\ have a cool scheme and you could sell your plastic on ebay and make most of your money back probly |
RE: Making the bike look newer
how can you tell the diff in the year model... they look the same to me
and are there any other colors other than the one you showed me?... im not liking the repsol look... i just want something low profile... im a noob...and dont want to be too flashy |
RE: Making the bike look newer
oh i see, you can tell the different years from the color schemes its just something you learn from reading about them all the time like i do, i found this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/cbr-600-f2-f3-cbr600-upper-fairing-kit-lower-headlight_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ35583QQihZ002 QQitemZ120076031492QQrdZ1 its not everything you need so you would have to buy the tail fairing center upper and rear fairing you would have to buy a different rear light and seat with these fairings that im showing you they change the rear section in 97 & 98
i saw alot of these color schemes on there also http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...69752615QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1998-...63538404QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/R-199...55781176QQrdZ1 http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...34858877QQrdZ1 |

As far as making it appear to be a newer bike, there are a ton of things you can do. Here's one, though we have still had no one, that I know of, succesfully contact this manufacturer to get prices. Here is an F3 kit from Spain...

RE: Making the bike look newer
i love the way the tail looks and yes it deffinetly appears to be a F2 .. i might just have to try and photoshop that and make it look more F3-ish
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
I was under the impression that the F2 and F3 was completely interchangeable. I think the only difference is the side fairing mounting bolt, isn't it (the one under the maint. cover)? I don't even have bolts for mine on there so I say to eff with it - someone buy one sos we can see a pic installed.
If anything, the subframe and the upper fairing stay should match - that's enough to buy this kit... hell, the rear would be enough for me! |
RE: Making the bike look newer
i always heard that the fairing stay is different between an f2/f3 .. ill try and find that info
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
Even if it is, it has to be minor. A new stay could be welded in seconds.
Screw the tech stuff, we'll make it fit! Let's get a price on these bad boys... someone here posted the original link but twas in Spanish - anyone care to translate if we find the site again? |
RE: Making the bike look newer
Post it up, ill translate...Im interested DAAAAAAM....why buy a new bike with that kit?:D
|

"Here is an F3 kit from Spain...
Badass... " Understatment of the year...... I am in love..... ok Im ez throw a litle red paint on any thing and Ill Drooool!!!! I like it alot!!! |
RE: Making the bike look newer
Wow! Lets get some more info on this!
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
The F2 and F3 fairing stays are different. No need to do any welding though. You can just unbolt either and swap them over. My F3 came originally with an F2 fairing stay and F2 plastics. I changed the stay and installed 98 model plastics- for the newer looking tail- plus it was a matching set of plastics. I got them complete off ebay for $499 plus shipping which I think was $99 insured.

RE: Making the bike look newer
Hi I saw the link on the repsol plastics set, Does anybody know who makes a good repsol race set like the one in this thread for the f3 ? I looked on ebay but to no success......It would help a lot thanks :D
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
The 95's look exactly like my f2 besides the side fairings are slightly different. I may be picking up a 95 very soon tho.

I looked on ebay but to no success......It would help a lot thanks :D You could more easily pick up the race set you want and then get the decal kit for it and have a pro body shop put that stuff on with a paint job. It still might be cheaper than buying a licensed Repsol set. |
RE: Making the bike look newer
ORIGINAL: KidCr3nshaw You can get it - but it would be hard to ride without and arm and a leg... sorry - bad joke. haha. J/k |
RE: Making the bike look newer
Well if you are looking to change the look of you F3 just do what I did. I used R1 upper and molded it to my F3 fairings. And now I have a fresh look for my bike. I cant post them here but look at late model CBR 600 F3 ,Custom Home made fairing update. Its was a little prices but it was the easiest fairing job I've done.

RE: Making the bike look newer
These are pictures of my f2. with all f4i plastics/seats/stay/ and gauges.

RE: Making the bike look newer
How hard was that to do? I am crafty but I don't have ready access to welding. But now that I have 2 bike I think the F2 is going under the knife fora ton of mods.

RE: Making the bike look newer
if someone can find the site i will certainly get it translated for us. the upper fairing looks a lot like the one "armstrong" is making for 907hondaf3, and the tail is just sweet!
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
After digging around a bit I found the old thread dealing with this kit. The link is on the first page. Sounds a little spendy for the kit but maybe if we get enough of us in on a group buy we can get a deal. I'd definitely be in.

RE: Making the bike look newer
Right on I'll see if I can have any better luck on contacting them, and I will certainly keep everyone posted.
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
Thats sweet, love to do that to my bike:D

RE: Making the bike look newer
I'm really interested in the F4i tail mod. I can live with my side fairings, headlight ect, but I really want a split tail.

RE: Making the bike look newer
I'm not gonna lie I just want it for looks. I don't doubt for a second that the f3 seat is more comfortable.
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
Bringing this back up from the past, and probably just re-iterating what has already been said about the Spanish kit...
The companycan still supplythe tail section (that is all I enquired about). The price is 430 euros excluding shipping. That price includes the tail fairings, upholstered seat, indicators and rear light. It will come in unpainted coloured plastic (selection of colours, didn't ask about the material). It uses all the existing fasteners and connectors. I added this to the thread in the F2 and someone else has said that the full kit is 1250 euros toast |
RE: Making the bike look newer
Almost $2000.00 for a new kit, how much a new kit for the stealship cost? $4000.00.
Not including shipping. Makes you think, how much do you love your F2/3 |
RE: Making the bike look newer
SO just the tail is 430 euros ? how much in amercian? I REALLY want that , got to have it, any one still interested in the tail that would change the whole look of the bike and its a striaght bolt on, Yea i got to have it GROUP BUY anyone or what im ready lol
|
RE: Making the bike look newer
OMFG that looks so sick... I'm going to do that to my bike. Considering my upper fairing is messed up, I just need to know what headlight lamps they used. God damn... Anyone know what the company name is?
-Jasper |
RE: Making the bike look newer
Wow... thats all I can say, great looking kit. Im tempted and I want to give my '95 F3 a fresher look.
Not to take this in a different direction but has anybody tried one of these kits? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Full-...em330225502887 For that price it seems a little too good to be true/would require lots of modifications... |
