Default Just bought my first bike! Some Qs and a Pic of her.

1998 Honda CBR 600 F3
Already has a Jet Kit and Slip On.
Bought if off a buddy of mine, he HOOKED me up with a deal, and I got her for only $1000!

Heres my basic list of stuff for her as of now... (And a few questions I have.)

Zero Gravity SR Series Dark Smoke Windshield $71.99
Competition Werks Fender Eliminator Kit $128.95
Clear Alternatives LED Tail Light with Integrated Signals $98.95 (Does anyone know of a led taillight that is a little less 'ricey' looking that still has integrated tails?)
BLUE Ion H4 Headlight Bulb $17.95 (If I wanted to get a real HID kit for the bike, are they easy to install on the F3? Where would the ballasts go?)
NGK Spark Plug $8.20
K&N Performance Oil Filter $15.95
BMC Street Air Filter $60.95
Clear Carbon Fiber Look Flush Mount Signal Lights $26.95 (Do they make flush signals for the F3 or do I have to use universal ones like these?)

I'm also interested in getting a full exhaust for the bike, anyone have any suggestions? Wouldn't like to pay over $600ish.
Also, what are the best fluids for her, as in both cooling and oil, i plan on flushing the entire system when i get her (shes still sitting at my buddies house).

Thanks in advance guys!

HID kit would be kind of a pain in the *** to install, there's isn't much room to mount anything behind the fairing. It could probably be done though, just gotta mount most of the stuff to the frame. Full exhaust system? Kneedraggers sells a D&D system for $463, but that brand is junk. Any other options are $750 or more. The flushmounts are universal, and you'll probalby have to cut your fairings to make them fit.

You could run the stock tailight housing and just get some electronic thing that'll convert it to an integrated tailight...although you should know that stuff isn't exactly legal, and you might as well not have turn signals at all cuz no one will know wtf you're planning on doing cuz they won't see your turn signal.

Don't know about fluids, but i think mine just has some automotive stuff forgot the brand. As for oil, i'm just running mobil clean 5000 10w40 with a k&n oil filter. Other people insist on running strictly motorcycle specific oil, all depends on your philosophy, but I paid just under $30 for the oil and filter change.

I agree with kwong2001 about people saying you have deflowered a bike by using something other than motorcycle engine oil. I have used both (automotive and motorcycle) in mine and I didn't notice a difference between the two. The onlydifference I have noticed is when I use synthetic, shifting the bike was smoother. Just make sure the oil you use fits the criterialisted intheowners manual from Honda. Honda recomends an oil that meets American Pertorleum Inst. (API) service classification of SF or SG. In addition to API criteria, Honda recomends a vescosity of SAE 10-40because itcovers the largerst spectrum of average air temp. In terms of coolant, I've used only the stuff from Honda because it comes premixed (50/50) and all you have to do is dump it in. I don't know or haven't seen what can happen if you use automotive coolant in a motorcycle. My guess is that you would have to change thecoolant a little more frequently... don't know though. You can't use automotive brake fluid because it is DOT3 and bikes use DOT4. For the fork fluid, you can use something other than Honda. You just need to make sure you use the correct weight and... that uhhh... should about cover it. Oh, I would grease up areas such as your steering head bearings and the bearings in your rear suspension. They need TLC every once in a while too.

I screwed around with some diodes and got my tails integrated..then i took it all back out..lol.just stick with the blinkers, they are easy to see.

I wouldnt worry about a full exhuast system either...lol

Skip the K&N,they make better power with paper.Same for 1st gen SV650s.EMGO makes an airfilter identical to OEM for 25 bucks.

OEM on the oil filter. The aftermarket ones skimp on paper.

You wanna sell that bike, contact me first. That's exactly what I want.Find any more, let me know.

Look at the back of the cylinder head and tell me the 3 letters on the back of it.

You can get a set of iridium plugs at Advance Auto for 29 dollars and change.Ask for plugs for a 2000 CBR929.

Full exhaust? Keep an eye on Ebay.

If you are interested in getting a trunk kit, i found a site that sells them for f3's and they are awsome. Although the space is limited, its great for little things like gloves that you just dont want to carry around. http://www.flashalert.com/f2f3trunk.htmsells them for $90. Not too difficult to install and easy to use once you've installed it.

Also, if you are interested in a new header, i have one that converts from 4 straight into one cylinder for better acceleration. Don't know the brand b/c it was given to me when i bought my f3 and has since been sprayed black. I've only used it for a few miles so its in good condition. Let me know if your interested.
