The tab on the f3, (at least my '98) is hard plastic. It isn't bendable at all.
I've seen in the service manual where it talks about checking them for adjustment. That is either talking about the earlier f3's or it is a misprint.

This is a comment by someone that hasn't had these carburetors apart before.


Trust me, there's no adjustment to the float level in these carburetors. The floats are all plastic and no tabs to tweek. If they go bad they usually develop a leak and then sink. This results in that carburetor flooding.
