Default IMO the best and maybe the first Mod everyone should do...

Finally replaced my stock break lines with steel braided lines (Russels in this case). I have always done this right away on all my other bikes. I have had these lines sitting in the box waiting and just never got around to doing it. Anyway, an hour project. Some bonding with my son...my official lever puller...and she is done. What an incredible difference!! Of course these are original lines, 62,000 miles, so she was due. I didn't bother with the rear line, although the 1000RR has it done. But I rarely use the back break anyway. The only downside to this was that now I realize just how bad I need to upgrade my fork springs!! Just thought I would share...

Not sure if you notice it or not. However, when you apply breaking with stock lines especially when you they are older, you have to add pressure to the lever to keep consistant breaking. This is called break fade. It is due to the rubber lines expanding under the pressure of breaking. The braided steel lines do not expand much and keep a more consistant pressure inside the lines, virtually eliminating the fade feel. So the pull is consitant, tighter and the feel is hard to describe until you experience it. You can usually find some good deals on lines and brake fluid is cheap.

Which lines did you go with and where did you get them?

I'm about to have to go through my brake system anyway so I might just throw some new lines on there as well.

Ive always ripped the stock brake lines out and popped in goodridge lines. one from each caliper straight to the master cylinder.
The difference i notice is a much better response and much greater feedback.
