Default I'm a newbie...is this a good deal?

Hey everyone I need some advice...
I have found a guy locally who has a 1998 600f3 for sale. It isn't too pretty, but seems to be fairly solid. I had a guy who works at a dealership go over it with me, and it seems the only things it needs other than some body work are triple clamp bushings and some work on the taillight (might need rewired...he did an integrated LED setup and it isn't working correctly). Has about 30k on it, and he wants $2600. Can I get some feedback? Thanks Cody

If it needs something in the tripple trees, they I'd say it's been riden pretty hard. I paid $2650 for my red F3 with only some superficial scratches on one side. Plastics are expensive to replace or repair and paint. I'd steer clear of this one. You should be able to get a really nice F3 for that money. Especially since it's at the end of riding season, or close to it anyway. Many riders are pondering the question, do I want to keep this bike in storage another year or sell it now and get something different next spring. Ebay is a great place to look.

Naturally, all of this is just my $.02 worth.

+1 craigslist is another great place to find cheap used bikes. here in Gainesville, Fl, there was an 00 ZX7 with 14k for 800 cash.

I thought it seemed to be a bit steep too, but after looking around it seems like it might be one of the better deals around. I've been checking craigslist, ebay, traderonline, mautofied.com, and all the street/off-road forums 5+ times a day, but I'm having trouble finding any newer (95+) 600's for under $2500. I don't know if the market around here is just less saturated, or if I just need to hold off for a few more weeks until the weather changes...anyway, if anyone sees any good deals around Pittsburgh or Youngstown, OH (or if you know somebody who doesn't want to store their bike all winter) please let me know.

Thanks
Cody

no, you wont find a F3 (unless you get lucky) for under 3k most of the time, the price stays around there
