Idle Problems-Too high

Hi guys,

I just recently fixed my carb which had a fuel leak problem, and now my bike runs just fine. The only problem is that it idles WAY too high (around 3.5-4) and adjusting the idle dial doesn't make any difference. I am pretty sure the throttle cable and the idle cable going into the carb was correctly put back in place, but I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts before I open her again? Thanks!

Throttle plate / choke stuck partially open?

You have a vacuum leak.Make sure ALL hoses are where they are supposed to be.Make sure your carbs are fully inserted into the intake manifolds and the clamp screws have been tightened.Bikes with ram air setups are a pain to get to the carbs and reattach them properly.

Check to see that your throttle fine adjuster is still screwed in, mine was backed out to far and then for some reason idled around 3.5 - 4 k. If its unscrewed you can just pull it off so see if you can pull out the fine adjuster.

Do you burp the thottle acouple times after turning the adjustment knob? If you don't the gauge won't should the correct idle reading.

Does burping mean rolling the throttle real quick?

Not from lock to lock, just enough to get to say 6K
