I need to thank you all...
I just bought a 1997 CBR F3 a couple of weeks ago. I paid around 1800.00 for it. It had a problem charging the battery, so the guy that sold it to me had to keep hooking it up to a car battery to start it. I didn't know what the problem was, but after coming on here and using your search feature, I found all the answers to my questions. I replaced the Regulator Rectifier and put in a fresh new battery. I also used the "how to test your regulator and battery are working properly" page you guys have here as well. Now my headlights are not working, so I'm going to check the disconnect which I just read about this morning. Who needs a mechanic when I got you all eh? I just want to thank each and every one of you, because even though I have not posted much here and I'm new....ya'll have been the biggest help I could have ever imagined. Thanks so very much.
Well, I'm not shy... On behalf of everyone here, you're welcome.
Welcome to the forum, we're glad to help.
Now, for that headlight problem. If neither the high beam or low beam, check the starter switch, and or a fuse. If High or Low works, then check the High/Low beam switch, or the bulb itself.

THANK GOD FOR CBR FORUM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my regulator/rectifier went bad and i was so sure it was the battery. so after buying a battery and encountering the same problem with the battery not staying charged i bought the regulator/rectifier and that solved my problem.
I took the starter switch apart and looked at the soldering job there...it looked like it was good. I am in the process of trying to figure out how to remove the bulb from the headlight assembly....I cannot locate the tabs to release it, I don't want to force it out for fear of breaking it. And the user manual does not go into great detail pertaining to it.
I also just noticed that when I use the foot brake or the handlebar brake that my brake light does light up. It stays on constantly....but when I hit the brakes it should get brighter. I checked all the fuses...they are all intact and put a fuse tester on all of them...they are all in working order. This sounds like a serious wiring problem.

there is certain cars that use the same fuses. Not so much for the 30A though i think.
those are pretty much universal fuses.
And, yes, indeed. CBRF has taught me to walk when i came in here i was crawling.
Well it appears that it was the headlight...blown bulb. As for the brake light not operating......you guessed it....blown bulbs. I started wondering why all the bulbs were dying out....I'm thinking it might have been when the guy switched the cables on the battery when he tried to jump it...(although it did blow the 30 amp fuse), or it could have happened when the RR messed up before I replaced it. Bottom line is....it's working. Thanks everyone for all your help!
