i need an idea about my rear shock

Default i need an idea about my rear shock

i just got my 97 cbr 600 the guy who had it before me was alot shorter so the rear shock is set at 2 how do i move it up i saw the number 3 and 4 are the higher number make it taller and if so what tool or how do i chang the setting hope someone can help thxs

If you have a tool kit that came with the bike there is a shock tool in the kit.

If not a belt wrench is a great tool for this job.

What you have to do is spin the preload adjuster of the shock so it clicks into the next higher setting.

And yes this will raise the ride height of the bike.

Spray this adjuster with WD40 between the shock body and the adjuster, some times the adjuster will rust to the shock body and this makes it hard to move.

Also check to see if the previous owner installed a lowering link on the bike, it's the aluminum dog bone link on the Honda Prolink Suspension.

The lowering link should have two settings, low and lower and just make sure the link is on the higher setting.

Thing your after is often called a 'C' Spanner/wrench, because it resembles a C.
