Hello,

I have lost my ignition lights on my bike, i have just put a new engine in, connected everything up, the lights where on but as soon as i attempted to start it, it just lost everything it made a tick all fuses look fine and its a new fully charged battery

any ideas?

More info required.....

Do the lights work when you turn the ignition on?
Do they go out when you press the starter button.

The click is the starter solenoid...... so there is power going to it.

Could be a dead battery ........ how long has it been unused?

there was lights I pressed the starter it made a tick went and everything went off and won't come back on,

the battery is brand new from Halfords so it's defiantly not a battery issue, I charged to 100%
even with a half flat battery I should get some sort of light,

all the fuses are ok, two days ago before I changed the engine every was working fine Evan the old engine runned it was a gearbox issue, I changed the throttle tube today possibly could be to do with a shortage? But I'm sure fues would of blown ?

 

OK now we can start to find the problem.
1. New battery I'm assuming you added the acid yourself? If so we know that's good.

Have you checked all the fuses as if it was clicking and then everything went off it sounds like the main fuse which is separate from the other fuses.

Are you sure the new engine is not seized? you have rotated it? (worst case scenario lol)

All the earth straps are OK? haven't got the starter motor power and earth switched the wrong way round?
