I need a set of high mileage tires for my 97 cbr 600. I commute 130 miles round trip 3 to 4 times a week. I don't do much twisties so that is not important. What would you recommend? Thanks for your help. Later.

 

I got my F3 last season, my first on a sport bike, so I was learning how to corner hard. But, I live in the mountains in Idaho, so my riding was 50% twisties, 50% straight. I've got nearly 8000 miles on the Continentals, and I'm just thinking about replacing them. The flat spot on the rear tire is about 3.5" wide at this point. I thought they cornered well, but don't have anything to compare them to. I got them because of this review:

I heard and read some good reviews on Shinko tires. Motorcycle Super Store sells them cheap. Have any of you guys or gals had any experiece with these tires? Thanks in advance. Later.

ive got the shinko 009s. seem to be working great for the money. now i ride hard but i havent got a road anywhere by my house to be knee dragging on. haha ive got about 3000 miles on mine and they have barely worn at all. got them from motorcycle superstore for like 150 for the pair

I have Bridgestone 020's front & rear & they are a good all rounder, had no wukkin furries with handling or grip & they seem to be lasting pretty well.
They have come out with a newer tyre since I got mine.

I had Z6 tires on my SV650S before they started to square off at 14,000 miles.

 

In response to your question about shinko tires, I just recently put on a new shinko 006 Podium rear tire on. I had the same issue as you did, with the rear tire wearing out too fast for my budget. The tires I had on before were Pirelli Diablos, and to be honest so far it feels like the rear shinko corners at least as well as the Diablo used to, and hopefully will last a bit longer. Personally if you're going to go with shinko's I'd recommend going with a slightly harder compound in the rear, like the 006 or 009, and the 005 in the front for better turn in and cornering grip. Just my $0.02.
