Thanls, will let you know. Would you know how to go about testing my regulator/rectifier? I've searched the forums up and down and cant find anything on how to do it.

Thank s guys! Just an update, the weather around here has been absolute crap so I havent been able to run any tests. I'm hoping late this week will warm up a bit and I will post my findings asap.

I have a friend running the tests for me at work, should have an update later. If I do end up scrapping the project does anybody know where I could find a reasonably priced headlight? Their are none on eBay right now, the dealer wants $200 which is ridiculous, and nobody is responding to my wanted ad. I honestly would only need the lens and not even the whole housing.

I believe I found the problem, I hooked up a multimeter to the headlight socket and it's getting surges of 16-17 volts when the headlight cuts out.

I need a temporary quick fix for the issue, I was wondering If I can wire in a cheap 12V Inline regulator to the headlight wires until I can buy a new R/R. The specs on the radioshack regulator says it kicks on from 13.6V-17volts and produces a stable 12v current which sounds like it would be perfect for now.

Apparently the inline regulator wasn't in stock, it would take the same amount of time to get here as ordering a new one. I went aftermarket (because of the better cooling) with direct OEM fit. Should be here later this week.
