HELP - again
Hi Guys, just a quick qestion. Bikes due for MOT in a couple of weeks and i've just recently changed plugs, air and oil filter. should there be anything else that will need doing before i take her. should i also be looking at other things to get her ready for summer lol xx cheers
You can use a toothbrush and some mild soap and water (unless there is something specifically made to clean it with that I don't know about... could be).
If you've got stands, it's much easier. Start somewhere on the top run of the chain to clean the outside. Rotate the wheel and continue until you get back to where you started - then do the same thing on the bottom run. That way you'll clean both the outside and inside of your chain. Wipe it down really well with a lint free clothand let it stand for about an hour to make sure it's dry.
After your chain is dry, you'll want to spray the wax on the bottom run- don't worry about the top run. You want the wax where the chain comes into contact with the sprockets. Do the whole chain and you're good. Also, you'll want to put a rag behind you're spraying so you don't get it on your wheel.
Just follow the wax manufacturers instructions for application an you're good!
What's MOT? Haha...

Oops, forgot to add that you'll want to give the bike a quick 5-10 minute gentle ride to wamr the chain- the wax will adhere much better to a warm chain. After you finish waxing it, let it sit for about 10 minutes then GENTLY wipe down any excess wax from the top and bottom runs. You don't want to scrub it off - just glide the rag over the chain to get the excess off. You're golden!
hey cheers for that, i'm going to get some bits for her tomorrow so i'll pick up some wax when i'm there. as for MOT lol, all vehicles over 3 years old have to go and be legally checked to make sure they are road worthy. and without it you cannot purchase your road tax, again something else we have to pay for lol. but its worth it in the end, those endless summer evenings and long weekends riding yeh lol oh i'm dreaming again, cant ya tell i've not seen much sun over the last few months lol
anyway i'm babling thanks again for the advicexx
