My cbr 600 keeps on shutting off. it happen the other day when i drove to west orange to union maybe a 20 min ride then i stop the bike and tried to start it back up and it didnt start the battery was drained cuz the lights kept dimming a guy told me it was the ditributer and my bike was at 1 and he put it on 2 rpms. It shut off before when i gave it throttle in nuetral and also when i left it on for a while it shut off.... since the batter keeps running out i think it might be the distributator or the alternator. when it does shut off i connect it to a charger for like 2 min and it turns on.... what is it i need help

sounds like it's your regulator/ rectifier. It's a small unit under your seat on the left side. It's a common problem with the honda's. here's a link to dyno the R/R.

if it is your R/R then here's a link for what to do when replacing it. The main problem with replacing it with an another honda R/R is that it doesn't have big enough fins for it to cool down. Plus the location is crap. (no wind) Well here's the link.

I'm using the gsxr R/R. and I've yet to have a problem. I can still tell it charges because when I rev it past 5K all the gauges light up.

hope this helps.

One thing to keep in mind, is that when your'e riding these F3's, they begin charging at around 3K RPM's, and stop charging at around 7-8K RPM's.

If you're hopping on it and riding hard, you're basically running the bike on the battery power alone. Before you know you're going to stop, ride a good 10 minutes in 3rd or 4th at around 5K RPM's to help recharge your system. That way when you hop back on it should start right up.

Also, simply running your bike in neutral is actually not good. The stator is designed to charge the system while the clutch is disengaged and the bike is in gear - otherwise, again, you're using the bikes battery power alone.

Recap - don't let your bike idle for long periods of time and let it recharge itself before parking.

If that's not the case, look at your R/R, haha!
