Having 98 cbr 600 f3 battery over heating problem
Hello im in need of help. I own a 98 honda cbr 600 f3 and my battery keeps over heating and hissing after a 35 to 45 min ride i had my battery almost explode today i swaped the battery out of my costum 98 600 f3 and over heated and hissed again but caught it befor the battery expanded like a ballon (literally) and almost explode this one im thinking of a rectifier or regulater problem. But i just dont have a clue whats wrong. Please help
It sounds like you have one of the few issues of the regulator over charging. The regulator is sending everything to the battery instead of 13 to 15 volts. Take a multi meter and measure the current going to the battery at an idle. It should be in the area of 12 to 13 volts. Then take a measurement with the engine review at 5000 rpm. You should have something in the area of 13 to 15 volts. Anything above that and you'll need to replace the rectifier.
Thank you i went a head and bought a new regulator and just got it yesterday im going to install it on the 23 or 24 of april im hopeing it will do the trick ill let you know as soon as possible whats happens
Make sure that the battery is up to the standard requirements for your bike as a small battery could start the bike but be too small for the charging system and therefore put stress on the rectifier/regulator.
