Default Getting my bike ready for spring by...

I'm getting ichy for a nice summer ride but I want to make sure my summer rides go without any preventable incident. Since us F3 kids have bikes that are 10+ years old, they need a little more TLC then the new RR's rolling around. So that I don't get stuck with a fat tow bill, I like to do agoodtear down just before the weather warms. When I say tear down... I mean a tear down. Currently, my bike is just aengine with a frame sitting on it.I wouldhave posted some pics but my camera battery was dead. I'll get some up tomorrow after work. I am going through every thing, the rear end, the front end, cooling system, brakes, spark plugs, and a vavle lash check (hope there is no need for adjustment). I've pretty much torn the bike down to the point where I can start inspecting and begin the valve lash check which should bea sinch . Like I said, I'll put up some pics tomorrow so you guys (and gals) will see what the hec I'm talking about.

That would be fun to sneak in a 1K engine in there, but for now I'm going to stick with what I got. Maybe I'll save that for when I have money and a project bike. It really hasn't taken me any time at all or specialized tools to tear my bike down to this point. I've got some rust that I need to tend too. Going to be sandingon the frame and then painting. I also wanted easy access for when I do a vavle lash check... I just hope there is no need for adjustment. Your right Jules, I am thorough with my preride inspections. Mainly because I hate to do things twice and I don't trust stealerships. I'll put up pics as I go along.

Congrats on the work man, I love to see things like this were the owner takes it on themselves to make sure the work is done right. I'm not going to be digging that deep, but I hope to be going thru my bikes in the next month.

I also go through the bike so much is because it's almost got 50K miles on it. Want to make sure it'll last another 50K.
