Ive heard the 1996 front ends are different from 97+. Ive been looking on Ebay for a Repsol fairing kit for my bike, but it says 96-98. Im kinda scared to buy it then the front plastic wont line up. Any advise for buying fairings? I would like the repsol kit, but really anything will be fine.

The fairings on the bike now are all ****ed up from it being dropped previously.

I think the main fairings are unchanged, it's the rear tail section that's different between the 96-96's and 97-98's.

Also, the only thing you'll need to change in the rear is the trunk and seat. You can get by with the 95-96 trunk but not the 95-96 seat... it won't match up.

 

So your saying all I need is a 98 seat then I can use w/e F3 fairings I want, and they will fit right?

 

I think that you only have to change is the taillight and bracket to use the 97-98 tail section on the 96 f3

mhonda's right, if you bought the repsol kit, you'd just need to buy a 97-98 seat and brakelight housing (assuming you've got a 95-96 f3).

BTW are aftermarker fairings usually frowned apon by other sportbike riders, just like body kits are with cars?

 

Not really, but then again most aftermarket fairings are basically the stock fairing shape anyways. All that it usually means is you've crashed lol
