if being cheap is the only reason u buy regular then thats retarded, based on gas prices right now around my area, if you do the math this is what comes out.

5 gal of 87 @ $2.53 = $12.65

5 gal of 93 @ $2.58 = $12.90

$12.90 - $12.65 = $0.25 for a better gas. if u are that cheap sir, why did u even spend money to buy a bike???

that same reason is why i always buy the higher octane, a full tank in my truck only costs an extra $1.50. for a buck fifty.... why the hell not!

most area's it's at least 20 cents a gallon as it is here, and to the person saying 91 and showing it in their book, that's 91 ron, not the number on the pump. 91 ron or (research method) as it was put is about 87 octane. Also, I would kindly suggest that the person referring to another on here as retarded especially since it was under false pretenses should apologize.

I think the 93 (sunoco) around here is like 40c/gal more or so more than 87.
Not that it's that big of a difference, though... it's still only a couple bucks a tank. (but I guess it adds up a little over a yr if you care...)

If your motor is knocking on 87, switch up. The manual is usually a good reference for what to use. (But yeah, the RON number is generally several points higher than the US number (AKI).)
I've never had a problem running 87 in my 1000F, but I guess it does have a little lower compression than the 600s (10.5 vs 11.6).
I do find it kinda odd that so many people are having what they seem to describe as big problems running 87, tho.

And yeah... come on, no name calling. Nothing wrong with trying to save a couple bucks if spending more isn't really necessary.

being cheap does make alot of sense. The bike run perfect on regular so why would i run something that cost more money that doesn't give me the slightest bit of return for my money? ive tried a tanks of midgrade and tanks of premium before just for kicks, bike didnt run any better and it shouldn't because its tuned to run on 87 octane fuel.

also where the hell are you buying fuel where the premuim is only 5 cents more? its 30-40 cents more around here.

when u put it like that, i can see ur point. i was just thinking maybe it would keep engine cleaner or something. to me that would be worth .25 cents.

around here ( south central illinois ) i can drive about an hour in any direction and premium is only 5 cents higher. what blows my mind on occasion is that i actually see premium 5 cents LOWER than regular. go figure??? its always puzzled me why that sometimes happens. its like they raise regular and lower premium to confuse people into buying the regular at a higher price. bastards.

Calling someone's reason for doing something retarded is the same as calling them retarded, but if it isn't around there, then I guess what you said could be considered an apology, otherwise it was very backhanded.

I think you should apologize now for calling us all kids... LOL..

But seriously, lets just let it go. No worries, guys....it's a fuel thread for gawd sake...
Save your bickering for something important like an oil or tire debate.

I say run whatever fuel you like. I like 87 because it runs fine in my bikes, it says it's ok in the manual, and it's the cheapest.
