fuel pump problem....
hi, i juss put my 98 cbr 6 back together after jetting the carbs n stuff... and when i put the fuel pump on, it worked fine, then i disconnected the hoses from it to take off the tank and know it runs very rapidly.... is there a certain way to hook up a fuel pump that i dont know about? please help, i need to ride.... lol
yes the key was off... but when i started the bike back up the pump was running bout 30 times faster than it usually did... and its a brand new pump. is there a posibility of air in the lines or what?
Maybe the fuel filter is old/plugged? It might not hurt to check the flow coming out of the tank. If everything is working fine, I would check the flow from the pump a little closer. You could possibly have a bad pump outa the box.
Disconnect the output fuel line and hook up another line that runs into a container that can measure fluid levels. Next, disconnect the fuel cut-off relay connector and bridge the black and black/blue wires with something like a paper clip (little black box located on right side in front ofCDI or really big black box). Turn on the ignition for 5 seconds and then turn the ignition off. Multiply the amount in the container by 12 to derive the flow capacity. The capacity should be 700 cc (23.7 oz) min./minute. You could also just run it for 60 seconds and not use a multiplier if your container is large enough. Hopefully this tells you what is going on with the pump.
