Default Found a bike...

'96 CBR 600 F3

I've been looking around for the past couple weeks for a bike that sparks interest in my eye. Origionally it was an '01 CBR F4. Then after talking to a few people on here, I've decided that there was too much wrong with it for the money she wanted. Then I saw an '89 Hawk GT for sale...fell in love with that bike, but wasn't priced right. Wanted $1500 for 85k miles on the bike. Plus having to replace plastics. Wasn't in me to go for it. Now I've found a bike in Idaho. Its a '96 CBR 600 F3. The guy is wanting $1700 for it, but my limit is set to $1500 cash. Here is the link from craigslist. Look it over, and let me know what you guys think about it.

Also, there is another bike I'm interested in...thought I'd throw it up here and see what you guys had to say about it.

Its an '88 Hurricane 1000. He's wanting $1850.

Thanks in advance guys/gals!

Do you know the mileage?

I would also ask for specifics on the damage or close-up photos.

I haven't actually called on either of them yet, I found them on my phone when I was at the ER with my girlfriend. Imagine "shut up babe! I'm looking at bikes, the doctor will give you meds, quit bitching" LMAO...but no...i never said that. I plan to call them both tomorrow before Photoshop class, so hopefully I'll be making a trip this weekend to go pick one up. I'll post on here to let you guys know what I can find out about both of the bikes. I also might be calling on a '98 Smoking Joe F3...but we'll see, its missing the rail fairings.

Doesn't seem like a terrible deal on the f3, but def take a look/test ride before handing over money

Smokin' Joes fairings are very difficult / expensive to find in good shape, so keep that in mind when pricing out that one.

dude that rhino linered f3 is pretty cool. I like it a lot and 1700 is not a bad deal at all even considering i dont know the mileage. But if you could get it for 1500 dude def go for it. Make sure it runs well and stuff. If cosmetic damage is the biggest problem, then go for it. Its a good deal man!

i am in a similar boat to you. I have found a bike but am now asking the same questions as you.

Its a 1996 F3, flat black with 30K on it. How long can you really ride these motors? Is 1900 too much...should I only offer 1700. Your guys help is greatly appreciated.

I bought my F3 with 45,000 miles on it last fall. I got it for $950, which was a steal (even in the fall and missing a few fairings). Have put about 1500 miles on it over the winter, with absolutely no mechanical failures at all.

Mileage (especially with motorcycles) is a bad indicator of "remaining life." People have put 200k+ on CBRs - the engines are near bulletproof if maintained and not abused.

Id go for the F3, Even if the fairings are messed up you can swap other ones on from other bikes .

I was going to buy a 1000 hurricane but i read somewhere that they were incredibly heavy so i got an F3 as an impulse buy lol.

Picked mine up for $600 and wouldnt sell it for anything
