Default forks, what will fit?

Hey, I smoked a german shepard at about 70 and ended up with some bent fork tubes. Anybody know if f2 forks or others will work, or am I looking for f3 forks only? It's a 96. thanks.

F3 forks from 95-98 are direct bolt in, making them the easiest choice. F2 forks wouldn't be worth it.

I believe some GSXR forks are a "direct" swap, assuming you have everything; rotors, calipers, clip-ons, upper and lower triple, etc.

Poor pooch! Be careful!

thanks for the info. I found a shop in TN by the name of Frame Straight that will straighten my tubes. Anybody had this done? Very reasonable at $100 for the pair, I thought. He wants the forks disassembled, but I'm not really sure if I should tackle that or not. Any suggestions or directions? Thanks.

Get yourself a clymer manual and a good metric allen head set. The hardest part is breakin the allen screw in the bottom and the seal just takes a few slams to come out. Either way, get yourself a good manual before you try.

Here is a fork set on eBay for under $100 (at the moment). I dont know if I would trust the integrity of the forks after being straightened. The other thing is that the dampener inside the tube will be tweak as well, is the shop going to straighten those as well?

They are not bent badly, only a slight bow, so I seriously doubt the guts are messed up. But I could be wrong. I've been watching different ebay forks for a while now, and they always seem to end up north of $300. Thanks all for you're help.

Did the dog have a collar or did the dogs owner come to your crash.

Did the police come?

If so the dogs owner is responsible for your crash.

I know a chick who got like 35,000 after hitting a dog and crashing.

Something to consider.

The dog's owner actually saw it happen. First thing out of her mouth was an apology and a lame explanation that the dog likes to chase bikes. She also happens to be a vetrinarian. The whole problem here is that this happened on an Indian Reservation. I'm not trying to bag on Natives, but they do not have to follow the same set of rules as the rest of us. She refused to even entertain any idea of responsibility for the fact that she let her dog roam free next to the highway. What really ticks me off is that I swerved to miss this dog with my 3/4 ton 4x4 earlier this spring. Any how, I managed to keep it rubber side down. That is what counts. Thanks.
