nice bike and a pretty good deal.. i guess i was a little spoiled when i picked up my F3. Very very minor scratches on the plastics but didnt run.. needed 4 spark plugs, sprocket and chain and new set of rubber and i was on the road. I paid $1200 for mine, clean title and all with 25k miles.

the only problem you will have with the china plastics is its hit or miss on whether they are going to fit perfectly.. one set might fix perfect and the next set be way off. nothing you cant fix with a drill though and a little fab work to get them to fit snug.

Nice bike! I agree, the most common problem is the RR. Check to make sure the connection between the harness and the stator are not cooking. You'll find the connection turning a brown/black color. It this is happening, you'll want to fix it pronto.
You might want to consider flushing out the brake fluid as who know how old that stuff it. The other thing is the fork oil is probably old and nasty. So, you might want to think of getting a fork job done. I say a fork just because to really clean the forks of the old nasty fluid, they have to be torn down. This is more of a maintenance thing, so it isn't required.
By the way, I have a right cover in red with a little rash that you can have. I also have a lower right in red with some rash, but no cracks.

I think I am going to just go price all new plastic, try and get red/white or red/black. But I will keep that in my mind for sure.

I got the same color scheme. When I got my bike it had a busted tail. I sold the 3 pieces of the tail on Ebay & then bought OEM from Bikebandit. The OEM pieces are pretty high but selling the old tail pieces helped offset the cost of the new. Just a thought.....

My first whip was a '98 f3. Awesome bike. Other than normal wear and tear(and a rectifier haha) I never had any major problems. Congrats and ride safe
