Well after sitting in the garage for over 6 months my '95 F3 is finally back on the road. It went from a lowered, stretched, beat up hunk of junk, to a revived, sexy chick magnet. Take a look. Not bad for a 18 year old bike, huh?

Well done mate! It's a pleasure to see how much actual our bikes can be in 2013! :icon_bike:

Why the F2 front end?

ambeos5 09-08-2013 05:18 PM

when he said it was a modified hunk of junk when he started i assume it was like mine and was frankenstiened together. Mine was a 94 F2 that was turned into a 95 F3 exept for the front wheel looks like that may have been what happened here. You really do need to change this though if your bike is like mine and has the F3 forks you are not using all of you braking power as the F3's calipers set a little higher on the fork to compensate for the larger rotors on the F3. So change that wheel & rotors (if you do have the F3 Forks anyway) you can tell this by looking at the brake pad if it looks like there is about 8mm-10mm of the pad not bienging used or hitting the rotor you have the F3 forks and should really change the wheel and rotors.

the fact that you have the F3 fender mounted tells me you have the F3 Forks as the F2 fender will not mount to the F3 Fork. im going through this same process right now dont feel alone :(

here is a link to the parts you need, you will need #4,5,6,13,14,11 to complete the change over along with the F3 wheel and Brake rotors

FRONT WHEEL - F3 - 95-96

Well the original aftermarket front finder that came on the bike when I got it fit good, but if you can see it I had to use mirror blocks to mount the new F3 aftermarket finder. I don't know if it's just because of a different brand of fairings or if it is the F2 forks. I know for a fact it has F2 calipers and brake pads on it, and I'm pretty sure they're F2 rotors, I always thought they looked a little small. However the frame has a sticker that says 1995 and the VIN is to a 1995. I'm thinking the guy trashed the bike and started rebuilding it using F2 parts (it has an F2 motor actually).
