Fairing Stay
I have another thread i just posted about panels i need for my wrecked bike, and i also need a new front fairing stay. The one i have now isnt severely bent, just a little off.
Could it be bent back into place?
Or would you suggest i buy a new one? if so, where can i get these?
Thanks,
Jason

im with you on that one. mine isnt totally out of whack, but it is a little bent. it makes my windscreen slightly hit my master cylinder and makes a screech that bugs me every time i hear it.
anyone ever bend their fairing stay back? whats the best way to do it? is it just better to buy a new one?

Yeah, i was reading online some other place that you can bend them back into shape if they arent too bad. Someone said he's bent his back into place a few times actually, and you can do it a few times until the metal ends up getting trashed and cracked and stretched out i guess. so i think im just going to try bending mine into place so i dont have to sink $165 bucks into a new one.

Man I tried bending mine back into place but I couldn't do it. Ended up buying one on eBay but the opposite side was bent on that one. So now I got another one and the seller(who is a member here) guaranteed me that it is straight as an arrow and has never been down. Hopefully this does the trick. Because now my plastics won't fit together properly with these bent stays.

How bad was yours bent?
Mine is just slightly out of whack and we bent it a little bit already for the master cylinder to clear, but to get it straight we'd have to do a little more bending. People have said heating it up first works good too. But by the looks of it i'll have to buy a new one if you say you couldnt get yours.

I can tell you from experience that bending the faring stay back into place is not an easy task. I had an incident last fall that required that I bend one back into shape. I was lucky in that I have 2 F3's to work with. I used one as a master taking measurements as I went. It's working, but it's not perfect. The clutch lever hits the guage cluster at full right lock. And let me tell you its tough to bend. Naturally it was designed to be tough to bend, and it is. You'll need some pretty hefty crow bars to get it back into shape. Good luck with yours.
