f4i guages years that will work on f3
hey guys trying to figure out the workable years that the f4i guages will work on the 98 f3. if im not mistaking its 2001 to 2003 that will work with the 900rr temp sensior but its been so long since i've looked into it i'm not sure. i cant seem to find the old thread. any help would be appreciated.
The gauges for the F4i are the same, all years. No difference
It takes a pretty good amount of rewiring to make it work on an F3, I know there are a lot of right ups on how to do the install if you do a search.

I have an F4i, lol. Mines not an F3. My old f3 use to not have gauges. It was a streetfighter.
But I know all years of the F4i are the same because mine had a broke screen and I took them apart and replaced the screen with a broke set of 06 gauges. All part numbers where the same.

+1 to jveach, I'm pretty sure he's on the money. When I did the swap, none of my research mentioned a particular series.
Here's a pic of my final product...

If you want to make it easy, go the www.vintageconnections.com and pick-up a couple
of the 9-pin connectors. One in white, one in black. Then wire the guages to one side.
Hook the blank side into it and then just plug the previously soldered pins on your
harness into the corresponding holes. It makes it easy to match up and gives you
the ease of removal and factory-professional finish.
Here's what they look like...

Here's the conversion table, to save you some reading/research time...
F3 to F4i
Green/Blue---- Green/Blue
Pink/Green----Pink/Green
Black/Brown----Black/Brown
Brown----Brown/White
Light Green/Red----Light Green/Red
Orange----Orange
Light Blue----Light Blue
Blue----Blue
Blue/Red----Blue/Red
Green (one of them)----Green
Green/Black----Green/Black
Yellow/Green----Yellow/Green
Pink (solid pink) - ground this out (other green)
Brown/Black - fuel reserve sensor - not used
Red/Green - battery(+) - connect to battery
White/Blue - fi indicator - not used.
Yellow/Black----Green/White This is where you have an option..
courtesy of iwanta900rr: .....I finally discovered how to use the 'FI' bulb as the
kickstand indicator!! To add, it is also functional in that if you put the kickstand down
in gear, it stalls! f3's yellow/black wire connects to f4i's white/blue wire AND NOT
it's green/black wire.
And here's a link to one of the picture posts of various mounts....

Also, use WD-40 and patience doing the 99-00 900rr temp swap, or you'll end up
with a stub in the case, you'll have to extract.
Hope this helps and good luck, Ern

You should do a write up in the How-to section Madhattr, Your conversion looks great by the way. I like how you reused the old gauge pod and was able to make it flow to look natural.
