Default F4i fairing stay on a F3.

Ok I got my bracket but how do you lower it 1.5"

the metal is across the top of the fairing stay in this picture. it wouldn't be able to mount through the original bolts that way. Do you ahve to cut off the original mounting piece? I was going to adapt a bracket to use the original and plate to new fairing. Am I doing this wrong. Here is a picture of how I thought it had to be done. Just imaging a piece of metal connecting the two.

you're partially right...in dementeds thread the only reason he had to move it down is because when he leveled it, it was on the rear stand only so the bike was leaning forward so it looked like it was straight...when he put it down it looked like it was looking at the sky. when i did mine over the winter i made the bracket from the old mounting point to the bolt holes of the 4fi stay and they are pretty much parallel..back of f4i stay to front of f3 bracket...with the holes the way you have them in the picture the front fairing is going to sit too low and you will have VERY limited range of movement in your bars

That is what I thought as well, I bolted the plate up and the tab on the fork would grab the metal when I tried to turn it as if I was taking a loop hard and fast. If you have any pictures of your mount could you post them?

Yes when i made mine the bolt holes are level with the stockf3 frame bolt holes. I just used some strong ties from the home improvement store and cut them. cost like $.83

I Set the side fairings on first, put zipties on them and leveled as much as possible. Then i bolted the upper fairing to the sides and ziptied everything till it looked ok. Thats when i started mounting everything.

Took me about a week to do it on and off. Take your time and its a simple swap.

Also i had to trim the bottom of the F4i fairings in the front. Where they meet under the bike. It has 2 bolt holes there, i had to take the farthest back one out because it was sitting on the header and was going to burn it up.

I was looking at it and how to do the 1.5" drop. I haven't gotten my fairings yet in the mail. Was just doing initial planning and thought sh*t this isn;t going to turn out!!!

Was a bit frazzled.
