Default f3 wrecked

so i wrecked my 95 f3. shop says forks and triple tree are bent as well as the mirror and fairings are destroyed. How hard is it to replace the forks and where is a good source for them. Im thinking i can pull the fairings and run without them and just mount the new blinkers to the frame any suggestions or tips.
thanks

The shop might have been taking you for a run. I am fixed a guys bike who was told by a shop that it would cost $1600 to repair/replace the wire harness. Well, I repaired it for $25 + $25 for an hour of labor by repairing the harness with stuff available online.
Depending on the accident, it's hard to believe the triple tree is bent. F3 are now for being beyond robust!! The upper stay is almost always bent in an accident, but the triple... no. If you rear ended or the bike slide under a guard rail, then I could see that happening. If that was the case, GREAT to see that you can type this thread!!
If you haven't already, download a F3 manual. From this, you'll be able do almost everything yourself. Disassemble the forks. Take the tubes and roll them on a flat surface if you don't have a dial indicator and V blocks. If the tubes wobble, they're toast. If the tubes are toast, the dampening rods will most likely be toast. Depends on the severity of the bends in the forks.

Hey, Courtney. I think you're right. I have a buddy who thinks he can hook me up with forks and some other odds and ends. They are off of a Yamaha bike but I have been told they should work. What I did was take a curve wrong and wound up thrown from the bike at maybe 30-45 mph. After I gathered myself and my wits, I could have driven it home but the foot peg for the shifter was busted so I couldn't shift gears. Do you make house calls to Frederick, MD? lol. I told the shop I would just come pay them their $100 diag fee and pick it up. I hope they give me a print-out of what all the fixes they recommend and I will post it up so I can get some advice from you on what to do. I really don't wanna just walk away from the bike as it ran really strong for an old bike and I can't really afford another one. I leave for GA this weekend for 6 weeks so couldn't really ride much this summer. Looks like my weekends this fall are pretty booked up. I don't have many tools on my own but I live on post and they have a auto skills center with a lot of hand tools and a motorcycle lift so I have access to a lot of the tools if not all of the tools I need. Anyway, thanks for any and all tips and tricks.

Careful, because many people on this forum may not be mechanically inclined.
Yes, it is cheaper to get parts online, and do it yourself, but a first time for forks can be a long process of getting things right. Getting your bike lined back up in the front takes a lot of patience, trial and error, and tools to support his bike that he might not even have yet.

For 2,000.00 you can damn near just buy a new bike and sell your parts on yours how it is now to make up for some.

I just dont want the OP to spend 500 bucks on used parts (and possibly repair equipment he doesnt have yet) and realize he has no idea what hes doing and end up out of pocket money.

I personally think anyone can learn how to repair almost anything on their bike, hell that's how I got to where I am today, but that took years and lots of small fires, stripped screws, bloody fingers, and greasy shirts.

EDIT: just read the post a few above and see you have some tools. how close are you to GA?

Spicy, your advice is extremely accurate and true. I in no way shape or form am going to attempt a fork repair on my own. Im not a mechanic and don't have the cash to spend on tools/parts. I have a plan to take it to a buddy who has the equipment neccessary to help me out on the forks and am going to strip the fairings off and run it "naked" lol. I have dubbed it project ghetto bike. I do think i can change the foot pegs and rig something up on the blinkers and front fender however. I have changed oil on cars and once in a pinch and with a lot of help changed a fuel pump on my pickup. I refuse to attempt something like forks or brakes or wheels or something that may potentially kill me if i dont do it right without experienced help at least the first few times.

Of course if i had been riding supervised i may not have puckered em up in the first place. l
