when my bike is at 170* the guage reads almost all the way hot. I measured the temp with an infared digi themo. When your bikes are at operating temp, is the guage reading in the middle like all normal bikes?

 

Mine is in the middle most of the time. Sometimes a little lower then middle if its a nice cool day out side and I am on the highway

 

Mine hovers around the lower end in winter, middle in summer, goes up with a bit when in boy racer mode. If your worried about it, think about replacing your coolant, supposed to be done every 24000 clicks or every three years. If it has not been done for a while this can cause your bike to run hotter.
