f3 project - f4i/600rr conversion - Build thread
 

Hey guys, first of all hope this is the right place for this, if not feel free to move. I'm currently a rising mechanical engineer at UNCC and just picked up a '96 f3 as a side project.

I've been into modifying honda/acuras forever now so this I'm hoping, will be a little firmiliar. The plans are as follows: Sell extra parts, put bike back together, convert fairings to f4i, along with headlight, and gauge cluster. Convert the tail to a 600rr, and ride the hell out of it back and fourth to school.

I received some extra parts with the bike, and some parts I'm still lacking. Here's some pictures of what i got with the purchase...

I'll post up progress as it comes... I just purchased fork seals, wiring harness, and a throttle off of crashingsucks on here so once those get here i plan on having my friend whom works at ohlins rebuild my extra forks, selling those, and getting money for a full f4i conversion i have someone holding for me.

So how much you asking for the f3 guages? And what about the front and rear wheels if you are looking to sell those.

that looks like a pretty str8 fwd build to me. Good luck. you might want to go get that block checked from a machine shop cuz rust to me shows that its been sitting open for a while

Thats a spare motor i got in the purchase. It was seized and removed. It was sitting on a porch so i figured thats the reason it had the rust. It def. needs a rebuild. I got that and a working motor with the purchase. seized one I'm either keeping around for gears or selling.

Holy crap! Was that other engine run through a river?! lol

anyone know the differences in the 04+ f4i fairing/gauge cluster/headlight etc compared to 01-03? only thing i know of right now is the split seat/tail difference... Anything else?

Said before I both do and don't envy you. I'd love to have my engine and frame just sitting there. Frame would be getting sanded, primered and painted. Engine, I'd be inside checking the valves and cleaning the accumulated gunk out.

But that's too many parts for me to deal with all at once. Especially lacking a garage and having a foot of snow in my work area. Right now, my bike is a covered white lump somewhere back in the driveway :p

i dunno how much of a difference there is btw the two if its a "F4i" but im guessing your asking the difference btween the f4 and the f4i... the f4 gauges are analog, the f4i gauges are digital+analog

it was 70*f out today... short sleeves... mmmm
had a spark plug get wet and die out on me from 3 days of solid rain...

sides that she is fine now with some new NKG's in there :)

No i meant between the different generation f4i's i know the 01-03 tails are different than the other years... So was wondering about the other plastics...

Also anyone know the difference between the 600rr tails? i've seen 2 different designs for older 600rr's but don't know the years they switched/which year corresponds to each style...
