F3 to F4i gauges- Temp sensor Question
I have converted my 98 f3 to f4i gauges/fairings. I would like the temp to read accurately. I know you have to install the f4i sensor and that it is bigger than the f3 sensor. I know you have to bore/tap the hole to fit the f4i sensor. So the question I have are:
Where is the sensor located on the f3?
Dependent upon where it is located will tapping it cause me to have to take apart the engine due to metal shavings?
Will an f4 sensor work or are there any other sensors that will work with the f4i gauges?
Also looking on ebay ive found a white plastic looking thing listed as a temp sensor as well as a more metal looking sensor. any pics of what I actually need?

The sensor is located on the block by the carbs, on the right side where the
chock cable is located. You replace it with the 1999-2000 900RR temp sensor.
You'll only have to remove the old sensor and replace it with the 900rr one.
If you don't use WD-40, patience and care, you can break the F3 sensor off, while removing it. That's probably where you're getting the mistaken notion of tapping
being needed.

I believe this is it?
Number 8 in the diagram. Can someone confirm this? I'm considering doing a swap as well.
