Nevermind all, it was the combination of loose spade connectors and poor ground on rear turn signals.... all is good... loving the swap :D

hey i was wondering how you hook up the speedo?? on the F3 there is a speepo cable does it go into the back of the f4i cluster?? thanks

I just did this swap 10 mins ago and after about an hour of trying, I finally discovered how to use the 'FI' bulb as the kickstand indicator!! To add, it is also functional in that if you put the kickstand down in gear, it stalls!
I will post this on every forum in which I have researched and read about this swap! I have yet to find the answer that I was looking for and so I want to share this with everyone. f3's yellow/black wire connects to f4i's white/blue wire AND NOT it's green/white wire. http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/t...Photo-0294.jpg I couldn't have the signal all the way to the right on because I had the left one on :P |

Hey Lee,
There is a tutorial related in this forum on how to hook up the speedo... you will have to cut on both the bike and speedo and use spade connetors. I found the mating connector to the speedo online for about $13 but only after alot of searching... it's been so long i couldnt tell you where. Aside from the Speedometer ($75-$200), you will have to purchase the temprature sensor (if you want the temp readout to work) from your local honda dealer about $45... be very weary if and when removing this as almost everyone breaks them off in the block... and then you have a $200 plus bill from the mechanic :( the only other thing you may need or want to look into is a "speedo healer" this will recorrect the sprocket difference between your f3 and f4i... the diff is on tooth on the front sprocket and three in the rear. If you do a sprocket conversion then you dont have to worry... FYI if your trying to do this on a F2 this speedo is not for you! |
When you follow the tutorial you hook the wires together and the speedo works. No speedo cable needed.

going to do my swap within the next week or so...going to the honda dealer to pick up some connectors...going to make an adapter harness so i don't have to actually cut into the stock harness....just plug it in and go...will keep everybody posted, and if there is interest i may end up doing them made to order

hey guys. do you know what colors controls the backlight? my backlight has been cutting on and off lately making it impossible to see at night. and dangerous.

Hey Daz! Don't quote me but it sounds like this might be an issue with your gaUges... I've stumbled upon this before... like i said don't quote me, just be aware that this could be the issue and by all means check your wiring connections!
