This last weekend was going to mess with the cam timing. Well ran into a problem installing the degree wheel. For you guys don't know. You take the ignition cover off and bolt it in place the ignition rotor. Well with or without the clutch cover on you can't bolt it up. I have a picture of what I'm talking about and will post it later tonight. To fix the problem I will have to make a spacer and use a longer bolt.

So I decided to do some more work on the cylinder head. It not installed on the block yet. Clean the head, installed the valves, springs, seats, and locks. Since I had it on the bench I installed the cams to check valve clearance. Since I'm running different cams then stock. Just make sure the head is not flat on the bench. You will bend the valves. Going to have to order some different size shims. Guess I'm back to waiting for the UPS guy.

[quote=cgmiller83;998930]I'm going to get as much power as I can out of it. Well without making it a one race gernade. Starting to look at modifing the airbox for more air flow and pressure.

koko_TL1000r Did this to his f2 that he added ram air to. I want one make one of these big air scoops one day. If you havent seen his build go check it out.

I was hoping I was going to be able to just bolt you the degree wheel. It wasn't much better with the clutch cover off. Plan is to make a spacer this weekend. I can look at it this way. Gave me time to check the valve shim clearance. Only to find out with the larger cams I need some bigger shims. Ended up ordering a hot cams shim refill in the size range I needed.

Sweet. Get those shims adjusted what size bolt will fit on there with the degree wheel in place? Wonder if they make a smaller degree wheel.

The smallest degree I could find was made by Motion Pro. Its a 6 3/4" wheel but the center hole is only 6mm. Which can't be used because the bolt in the crank is a 10mm. Even if the center hole was bigger a spacer would still have to be used.

Note: For anyone getting bigger cams or just regular valve adjustment. Plan on having to order shims. You don't have to order a big kit. I needed 3 2.10mm and 5 2.15mm shims. Hot cams has a refill kits for there big shim kit. I ordered the refill kit 2.10 to 2.35, you get 5 of each shim and it in .05mm steps. Cost was $41.95 shipped and you get 35 shims in total. I check dealer price and was going to cost $47 just for the 8 I needed.

Something I wanted to add about the degree wheels. You don't always what the smallest one you can find. The smaller the wheel the tighter, the degree marks are to each other. The bigger the wheel, the more space between the marks. Which gives you the option to do 1/2 degree adjustments.
